July 1976, an extremely dry summer, grassland is withering, grass yields are low and a winter feed shortage threatens. What is the best way to make the grassland green, smooth and profitable again as quickly as possible?

Ben de Vree senior found the right answer for this: The Vredo Overseeder. A machine that works well and protects the turf.  Without having to plough, till, level or roll, the old turf was quickly and completely overseeded with new grass seed. A few weeks later these plots of ground were green again. There is no more efficient method of grassland revitalisation.

The Vredo overseed principle is unique
Two sharp discs positioned in the shape of a V cut a narrow slit in the turf. A land wheel drives the cam on the metering mechanism and ensures perfect seed rate. Infinate variations makes it possible to accurately adjust the seed rate. The seed falls precisely between the V of the discs and is then deposited in the slit at the correct, adjustable, depth.

Because the soil is held back by the discs, it springs back to its original position. The grass seed is immediate held in position by the weight of the soil. This creates an optimal moisture transfer and the capillary properties of the soil remain intact. This system, in combination with the independently suspended elements (disc pairs), is unequalled by any other machine.

The seed dispensing can be accurately adjusted to within a gramme per square metre. Skids protect the turf right next to the discs. The compaction roller seals of the top of the trench and also rolls the turf back into place. This roller can also help control the depth. The seed is well protected in the fertile soil and receives the optimum amount of light, air and warmth.

The different models
Not long after its introduction, the Agri Series also caught the attention of the sports world. After an appropriate adjustment of the overseeder, every year in the spring and during the summer break a large number of sports pitches are now overseeded with the Sport Series. Thus every sports season starts and ends properly, with a fine, green pitch.

A strong, green carpet of grass is also the calling card for camping sites, horse breeding stables, city parks and lawns. This application once again requires other properties. The Vredo Compact Series is ideally suited for this. Thanks to its compact construction this series is also suitable for a lighter tractor.

Vredo, for golf courses too
A recent development is the Supercompact series. After working intensively with the best greenkeepers, this overseeder has been specially developed for greens and teeing grounds at golf courses. The Supercompact is characterised by its very compact construction and an inter-row distance of only 3.5 cm. With this Vredo, every green is in perfect condition again.

A prototype of the Turf-Fix series  was recently introduced. This can be self-propelled, towed or used with a lawn tractor. The self-propelled machine has an operating width of only 60 cm. The Turf-Fix can handle the smallest spots areas and has been specially developed for grounds men and  gardeners for the overseeding of  bowling greens, small lawns, small parks and at camping sites.
